A new wellness and culture festival will take place in Macao’s Barra district next month, bringing yoga sessions, sound baths and a creative market to the historic Navy Yard.

The Wondera Festival, a two-day event on 13 and 14 June, will be held across Navy Yard No. 1 and No. 2, the bamboo pavilions and the outdoor plaza in Barra. It is organised by Oneness Space, Chunyu Culture and Art Association and Long Fung Drama Club, with support from athletic apparel brand Lululemon.

Timed to coincide with Global Wellness Day and the International Day of Yoga, the festival will offer a mix of fitness classes, talks, workshops and small-scale performances targeted at both residents and visitors. The organisers describe the event as an “urban oasis” within the converted navy yard, with programming designed around mind-body health and slower living.

The site will be divided into five themed areas. A Healiverse market will host local creative brands and wellness providers, while other zones are set aside for sound bath sessions with gongs and singing bowls, floral aromatherapy workshops, talks on well-being, fitness activities and live performances. Another area will provide quieter space for activities such as sutra transcription and handicraft workshops.

Yoga is a major part of the programme. Highlights include an outdoor sunset yoga session on the waterfront and a “New Moon Reset” class that combines flower cards with yoga, led by instructors and brand ambassadors. Other movement-based activities include mat Gyrokinesis classes and an “Ice Cream Run”, intended as a lighter, family-friendly option.

The festival will also feature tarot and natal chart readings, as well as a workshop combining Taoist Bazi with floral design. Independent bookstore Cut will present its publication “Living Camera,” alongside other pop-ups and picture book displays.

Food and retail vendors will offer items such as vintage clothing, handmade incense, sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, coffee and craft plum wine, alongside aromatherapy and essential oil massages.

The organisers are still recruiting local brands, artisans and wellness practitioners. Around 30 to 40 vendor slots are available, with applications open until May 31 via email to [email protected].
