Born in Mozambique, he was a lieutenant in the Portuguese army during the African country’s war of independence, before working in its Ministry of Information during the period before self-rule. He later worked for companies like the BBC, Agence France-Presse, RTHK and Lusa Portuguese News Agency and has lived across the world, settling in Macao.

Since 2009, Gonçalo, who has made video documentaries on the Portuguese in Asia as well as books on Macao and Japan, has been director of Macaulink Media Group.

Sara Santos Silva
Senior Manager of Lifestyle & Client Relations

From the northern Portuguese city of Espinho, Sara is responsible for curating lifestyle content at The Bay, across web and social media platforms. Although her position has its glamorous, sybaritic side, what she loves the most about her job is the chance to connect with people and listen to their stories. Sara also works closely with The Bay Creative partners and clients, helping to shape the vision for each project, and produce and execute branded content.

Sara has lived in Macao for nine years and both her children were born in the city.

Vienna Sou
Head of Brand Partnerships

Vienna holds a Bachelor of Communications degree from Chicago, and began her career in her hometown of Macao as a Public Relations and Marketing Executive at the St. Regis Macao, before moving to Shanghai to join W Shanghai as Marketing Communications Manager. While there, she successfully launched several high-profile events, which sparked her passion for content creation.

With a strong background in relationship-building, networking and market trend analysis, Vienna has collaborated with top brands like Rosewood, Ritz Carlton, and BBC Story Works. In her free time, Vienna loves to travel, box and spend time with her family.

Erico Dias
Web Producer

Born and raised in Macao, Erico moved to Goa for school before returning home for university. He’s been with The Bay for more than five years, starting as an intern on what was then known as Macao News. Over that time, he’s grown into his role as web producer, as well as covering sports, lifestyle and entertainment, with features thrown in along the way. Since last year, he has been dividing his time between Macao and Goa, but remains fully hands-on.

He brings the same enthusiasm to every story he writes: ask him his favourite article and he’ll tell you it’s always the one he’s working on right now. Off the clock, Erico is driven by a simple philosophy: get a little better every day. Fitness and mental health are close to his heart, and you’re likely to find him at the gym, out on a walk, or deep into a podcast about self-improvement and personal growth. Football remains a lifelong passion too, even if these days he follows it more than he plays it.

Sara Chang
Head of Audience Intelligence

Sara was born and raised in Hong Kong. She studied economics and statistics at the University of Toronto before building her career in data science and analytics.

With experience across consulting, premium retail (L’Oréal and Lululemon), and logistics, her expertise spans data governance, machine learning, marketing mix modelling, and AI projects. At The Bay, Sara focuses on building a deeper understanding of the audience through data. She helps shape content strategy, inform editorial decisions, and contribute to the company’s growth in its new chapter.

He began his career in Portugal’s video industry in 1997, where he worked mostly in broadcast and advertisement.
After relocating to Macao in 2014, he has worked with companies across Asia. As a freelancer, he collaborated for a decade with The Bay when it was known as Macao News, before officially joining the team full-time in 2024, bringing his wealth of post-production expertise to the platform.
