Goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias – known as Vozinha – reflected on the experience as a profound success for the country’s profile. “We lost to Argentina, but we gained international recognition,” he stated, noting that the match proved the nation could compete at the highest level of the sport.

The official date is intended to honour the team’s resilience and unity during the tournament.

Local tributes have also commenced in the municipality of São Miguel on the island of Santiago, where Mayor Herménio Fernandes has overseen the inauguration of Vozinha Street and Blue Shark Street. These gestures reflect the significant inspiration that Cabo Verde’s World Cup performance has provided to young footballers across the archipelago, proving that the national squad can thrive on the sport’s biggest stage.
