Macao Marathon 2026: dates, routes and how to register

The 45th Macao International Marathon runs 6 December. Registration opens 3 October. Here’s everything you need to know

The Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon returns for its 45th edition on 6 December 2026, with registration opening in a few days and the field reshuffled from last year.

When is the marathon, and where does it start?

Race day is Sunday, 6 December. The marathon and half-marathon set off from the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium at 6 am, with the mini-marathon following twenty minutes later at 6:20 am.

Registration for the marathon and half-marathon opens at 9 am on 3 October; the mini-marathon opens a day later, at 9 am on 4 October. Everything runs through www.macaomarathon.com or the Macao Marathon app, on a first-come, first-served basis, with MPay, BOC Mobile Banking, Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, Alipay and WeChat Pay all accepted.

Fees depend on residency and category. AGAM members pay 100 patacas (US$12.50) for the marathon or half-marathon, and enter the mini-marathon free. Macao residents pay 150 patacas (US$19) for the two longer races and 50 patacas (US$6) for the mini-marathon. Everyone else pays 400 patacas (US$50) for the marathon or half-marathon and 70 patacas (US$9) for the mini-marathon.

The field has shifted from last year: marathon places rise to 2,000 (from 1,800) and half-marathon places to 5,000 (from 4,800), while the mini-marathon quota eases slightly to 5,000, down from 5,400.

What’s the route, and what else is happening around race day?

Runners in the marathon and half-marathon cross the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and Sai Van Bridge, passing the UNESCO-listed A-Ma Temple along the way. Bib collection runs from 2 to 5 December at Broadway Macao’s mezzanine level.

Around the race, organisers are running a “Most Creative Costume Award” and a carnival programme, plus the sixth year of GEG’s Run with a Partner training scheme. GEG director Philip Cheng said the group is now in its 23rd consecutive year backing the marathon, and its fourth as an organiser.
