A Macao-made mooncake gift for Mid-Autumn Festival

Mandarin Oriental, Macau has collaborated with local artist Julia Lam to create an artistic, reusable mooncake collection celebrating the spirit of home.

Mid-Autumn Festival always brings an annual question: what to take to family dinners, send to colleagues or give to clients? This year, Mandarin Oriental, Macau is offering a local take on the seasonal gift box, collaborating with Macao artist Julia Lam on its Fullness of Casa mooncake collection.

Lam’s hand-painted cylindrical box draws on the idea of home in Macao, with an illustration of the Ruins of St Paul’s revealed inside. The design also includes individual coasters accompanying each row of mooncakes – a useful detail intended to keep the packaging in circulation after the last slice has been eaten.

Inside are four varieties: silver lotus paste with double egg yolk; pandan paste with double egg yolk; five kernels with Yunnan ham; and a new black sesame paste with double egg yolk flavour. The mix balances familiar Mid-Autumn staples with less conventional options for those looking beyond the standard lotus-paste collections.

For companies organising seasonal gifts, the collection comes with tiered bulk-order discounts: 10 percent off purchases of 30 boxes or more, 15 percent off 100 or more, and 20 percent off 200 or more. Orders from 100 boxes up also include a custom logo sleeve and delivery to a Macao address.

Those looking for a more substantial gift can opt for the Fullness of Casa Hamper, priced at 3,688 patacas. Alongside the mooncakes, it includes caramelised walnuts with sesame, house-made XO sauce, Chinese sausages, mushrooms, 12-head abalone, tea and two bottles of wine: Regaleali Nero d’Avola 2023 and Ca’ di Rajo Prosecco Brut.

The mooncake collection is available to order until 25 September 2026. Gift boxes can be collected from the Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop between 14 and 25 September, from 11am to 7pm daily.
