Preparations begin for the 26th Macau Food Festival

The highly anticipated 26th Macau Food Festival is scheduled to take place from 20 November to 6 December, transforming the area near Praça do Lago Sai Van (Sai Van Lake Square) into a bustling culinary hub. Organised once again by the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macau, the 17-day culinary celebration will showcase approximately 150 local food and beverage establishments, highlighting the region’s diverse dining culture and its unique blend of Chinese and Western culinary traditions.
During a press conference held yesterday, reported by Macau Post Daily, details of the upcoming 26th Macau Food Festival were officially unveiled. The briefing was attended by prominent figures, including Andrew Chan Chak Mo, chairman of the organising committee, alongside director Lei U Weng and deputy director Fong Kin Fu. Representing the government was Ip Weng San, chief of the Tourism Product and Events Department at the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). They were joined by representatives from more than 230 local businesses.
Applications open for the 26th Macau Food Festival
The application period for merchants wishing to participate launched yesterday and will remain open until 24 September. Successful applicants are required to pay a 3,000-pataca deposit. Furthermore, participating operators must utilise a point-of-sale (POS) system supplied by the association. The association will deduct 10 percent of the merchants’ revenue to cover critical operational outlays, including promotional marketing, venue decorations, utility supplies, security, and cleaning services.

Organisers are also proactively addressing logistical challenges, particularly as the event will partially coincide with the Macau Grand Prix, scheduled for 19 to 22 November. In previous years, traffic congestion and pedestrian safety have posed persistent difficulties, with families often unable to find parking and forced to return home.
To combat this, plans are underway to secure a temporary plot of land between Sai Van Lake Square and Avenida do Lago Nam Van. This site is projected to accommodate more than 200 private cars and motorcycles. Additionally, a new, non-stop weekend shuttle bus service running from Friday to Sunday will be established, linking Hengqin Port directly with Macau Tower to ensure visitors can access the 26th Macau Food Festival with ease.
