Melco Resorts & Entertainment has officially inaugurated its latest property, the REM luxury hotel Macau, located within the City of Dreams Cotai integrated resort. The grand opening featured a star-studded ceremony and live performances to celebrate a hospitality concept centred on sensory immersion and privacy.

During the opening event, Melco chairman and chief executive Lawrence Ho delivered an address outlining the vision behind the new development. He noted that the company has consistently pursued innovation rather than replicating past successes, pointing to previous milestones such as the House of Dancing Water and Morpheus.

According to leadership, REM (which stands for rapid eye movement) was created to address evolving demands among luxury travellers who prioritise privacy, personalised pacing, and immersive environments. Company executives emphasised that the launch forms part of broader corporate initiatives to diversify regional tourism offerings and support Macao’s ongoing development as a leisure destination.

Positioned alongside Morpheus and Nüwa, REM expands the resort portfolio with a design aesthetic focused on avant-garde luxury.

The distinctive new property comprises 149 rooms and suites, spanning seven distinct categories, ranging from premier rooms to the exclusive penthouse suite. Interiors incorporate a palette combining red tones with cool metallic finishes, designed to create dynamic contrasts of light and shadow throughout the accommodation.

Leisure amenities include an outdoor swimming pool and the poolside Reverie Café, which offers all-day dining. Additionally, the hotel’s fitness centre is equipped with Life Fitness Symbio series equipment – marking its first installation in Macao – alongside professional personal training services.
