The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (known as IPIM from the Portuguese initials) is leading a 29-member delegation to Maputo from 20 to 25 July for a lusophone trade forum known as the China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Enterprises Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair.
The group includes entrepreneurs from Macao, Hengqin and mainland China working across Lusophone trade, infrastructure, engineering, logistics, cross-border e-commerce and professional services. Beyond the forum itself, members will visit close to ten local government departments, chambers of commerce, established companies and tourism and lusophone trade projects in Mozambique.

The forum runs on 23 and 24 July at the Mozambique-China Cultural Centre in Maputo, under the theme “Investment, Logistics and Infrastructure Driving the Growth Engine.”
The event is jointly organised by Mozambique’s Investment and Export Promotion Agency, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and IPIM, and combines a conference programme with site visits and business matchmaking sessions, including an opening ceremony, investment roundtables, keynote speeches and agreement signings.
The annual fair traces back to an agreement signed in 2003 during a Macao-based China-Portuguese-speaking countries trade gathering and has rotated among lusophone countries since 2005. This year marks its sixteenth edition. Over the years, it has drawn close to 6,800 participants, facilitated more than 3,900 business matchmaking sessions and led to nearly 120 signed cooperation agreements spanning technology, infrastructure, finance, tourism and trade.
IPIM said it will continue using Macao’s position as a platform linking mainland China with Lusophone markets, helping local companies pursue opportunities across Africa and Portuguese-speaking countries.
