Earlier editions of the CTA Tour finals combined group stages with knockout rounds. This year every match is a knockout, and the event also includes men’s and women’s doubles.
Chinese players Guo Hanyu, who won the 2026 Wimbledon women’s doubles title, and Sun Fajing are among those returning to Macao.
Sports Bureau president Deland Leong Wai Man said keeping the event in Macao would help develop tennis and bring sport and tourism closer together. SJM managing director Daisy Ho Chiu-fung said the aim is to bring top Chinese players closer to local audiences and encourage younger people to take up tennis.
