Studio City Macau opens new 4D flying attraction Stardust

Studio City Macau opened a new 4D immersive flying attraction called Studio City Stardust on 12 August. The ride is located on Level 2 of the resort’s West Wing, runs daily from noon to 8 pm, and costs 150 patacas (US$18.68) for a standard ticket.

The attraction takes over the venue that previously housed Studio City’s Batman-themed flying theatre. It was developed by Canadian entertainment company Dynamic Entertainment, which designed the ride’s motion seating, visual effects and sound system.

How the Studio City Stardust ride works

Seats move on multiple axes, shifting forward and backwards, rising and dropping by up to 1 metre, and tilting up to 10 degrees to simulate the feeling of flight. A 23-speaker sound system is paired with wind, fog and scent effects timed to the visuals.

Each session holds up to 72 guests and runs about 15 minutes, including check-in and a safety briefing. The ride is set in a retro-futuristic world built around a fictional airline, Stardust Air Tours, with guests guided through the experience by two characters, a robot named GUS-47 and a human host named Ying. Two initial storylines are available at launch, Deep Space Expedition and Lost in the Dinosaur World.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment chairman and chief executive Lawrence Ho, Dynamic Entertainment co-chairman and chief executive James Chui, and Studio City Macau senior vice president and general manager Kevin Benning officiated the opening.
