Nobu to open second Portuguese luxury resort in the Algarve

The Nobu hospitality brand has announced plans for its second Portuguese destination, unveiling a new hotel and residential project at the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club in the eastern Algarve region. Scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2029, the development is set to follow the brand’s upcoming opening on Lisbon’s Avenida da Liberdade, according to multiple media reports.

Spanning over 1,000 acres of countryside and centred around Monte Rei’s Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, the project will feature 100 rooms and suites alongside a Nobu restaurant. The plans also include 21,000 square metres of Nobu-branded villas and residences at the golf club.

The project is being developed in partnership with Norfin, with design work led by the Rockwell Group in collaboration with DSA Architects. Construction is slated to commence in 2027.

Nobu: European portfolio

This latest Algarve venture adds to Nobu’s expanding European portfolio, which already includes locations in Barcelona, Ibiza, London, Marbella, Rome, San Sebastian and Warsaw. The brand is also preparing to open a site in Madrid this September, with further expansion planned for Hamburg, Kraków, Rutland in the UK, Amsterdam and Montenegro.
