Duck blood, bone marrow & turtle jelly: A travel influencer eats like a local in Macao

Travel influencer Shaun Birley had 24 hours in Macao — so we took him straight to the spots tourists rarely find. First stop: a traditional herbal tea house where Shaun gets his first lesson in “yit hei” (熱氣 / internal heat) and attempts turtle jelly without the syrup. Then it’s on to Sun Yick for curry beef brisket in bread, the theatrical IV drip chicken, and salt and pepper sweet corn. The grand finale: a bone marrow hotpot complete with duck blood, which Shaun nearly mistook for chocolate mousse. From Cantonese medicine to dishes he’d never seen before, this is Macao eating.
