Since 1929, Macao has marked the anniversary of the first Fátima apparition with a candlelit procession that mirrors rites at the Portuguese shrine. Led by three children dressed as the shepherds who reported seeing the Virgin Mary in 1917, devotees follow the statue of Our Lady of Fátima from St Dominic’s Church to the Chapel of Our Lady of Penha, singing hymns and reciting the rosary through the streets. Nearly a century on, it remains a living archive of faith.
